The IRS released Notice 2011-45 detailing restrictions on using the term "Registered Tax Return Preparer". Since the results of the competency test have not been released. no one has yet satisfied all of the requirements to become a Registered Tax Return Preparer. Therefore, no individual can yet represent that he is a registered tax return preparer.
In addition, once an individual is identified as an RTRP, all advertising materials must contain the following disclaimer: 'The IRS does not endorse any particular individual tax return preparer. For more information on tax return preparers go to IRS.gov."
